Installing a sample system

The following installation guide describes the installation of AMETAS. The actual commands are marked by color, depending on the respective operating system:

Unix (Linux or other Unices)
Windows / OS/2
Same for all systems

Unix users may use the script installonunix in the package installer.tar.gz which installs and configures the system described below.

At the beginning of this script another script is called, named setsampleenv. In this script you need to give some basic settings for your environment. At least you have to set the variable MYHOST and the names of the ZIP archives which you downloaded.

The script also produces three new scripts, adapted to your environment, which may be used to launch places and the PNS:

Furthermore, a suitable .AMSI config file is automatically created.

We also offer a collection of scripts called unixscripts.tar.gz which you can use in other installations, not only with the installation produced by the sample installer.

To utilize the automatic installer, please download

Please store the files in one directory, unpack the installer, and call it with

./installonunix

If you set the AUTOSTART parameter to yes, the system is automatically started after installation. But it's less fun.

We will use SecAdmin for configuring the place. This tool is described in detail in Working with SecAdmin.
